Boise denies appeal of Boise State intramural field

Published: October 16, 2012

The Southeast Neighborhood Association complained that the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission didn’t appropriately weigh the noise impacts that will come from students playing sports on the proposed field, which Boise State University plans to build north of Belmont Street between Oakland and Lincoln avenues. Neighborhood representatives also said the city shouldn’t allow the field since it would stray outside the boundary of Boise State’s master plan. But the City Council voted 3-1 that Planning and Zoning hadn’t erred in its approval of the university plan. Councilwoman Elaine Clegg sided with the neighborhood association and cast the sole “no” vote. Councilman David Eberle abstained from the vote, and Councilwoman Lauren McLean was not at the meeting.
