Idaho lost its second straight game to open the season, falling 2-1 at Utah on Saturday night.
Utah goaltender Andrew Engelage stopped 35-of-36 Idaho shots to preserve the victory.
Utah scored twice in the second period to grab a 2-0 lead.
Idaho finally broke through midway through the third period. Matt Case scored from the top of the right-hand circle to make it a 2-1 game.
Idaho netminder Tyler Beskorowany stopped 24-of-26 shots in the loss.
Neither team scored on a power play. Idaho went 0-4 on the man-advantage, and Utah went 0-3. Idaho remains on the road with three games next week in Colorado, returning home Oct. 24 to host the Ontario Reign at CenturyLink Arena in Boise.
