Blogger Joe Soriano didnt pull any punches when describing Cardinals guard Daryn Colledge (Boise State) in a preview of the Bills-Cardinals game for Musket Fire, a Patriots fan site. Daryn Colledge cant play pass protection at all, but he is a hard-nosed mauler as a run blocker, Soriano wrote, adding that the Cardinals offensive line is the worst in the league.
Rams safety Quintin Mikell (Boise State) returned to practice Wednesday and expects to play against the Dolphins. He suffered a concussion during a victory over the Cardinals on Oct. 4.
Browns defensive lineman Billy Winn (Boise State) has started all five games this season. He has nine tackles and has knocked down two passes, and is expected to have an even greater impact if fellow defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin sits out Sunday against the Bengals. Rookie John Hughes would start in Rubins place alongside Winn. Its safe to say were depending heavily on Hughes and Winn to step in and give us a bunch of good snaps, coach Pat Shurmur told the Medina (Ohio) Gazette.
Outspoken Vikings defensive end Jared Allen (Idaho State) didnt mince words during an appearance on NFL AM on the NFL Network on Friday morning. Allen was asked about the hit on Texans linebacker Brian Cushing by Jets guard Matt Slauson. For me, theres no place (for) that, Allen said. You take a guys knee, he may never be the same player after that. If were going to talk about player safety, there needs to be equality amongst all players. My knee is just as valuable as Tom Bradys, in my eyes. Theres some hits on the defensive side that could be illegal and probably save some defensive players. Slauson was fined $10,000 for his hit.
Lions wide receiver Titus Young (Boise State) is expected to play Sunday. Young was held out of practice Wednesday and limited Thursday and Friday, but was listed as probable on Fridays injury report despite a knee injury. Young is Detroits fifth leading receiver.
