Humane Society cat adoption special
The shelter is overwhelmed with adoptable felines, so through Oct. 21, cats and kittens will be available for a donation in the amount of the adopters choice. About 100 cats are at the shelter, and another 300 are in foster homes.
Adoptions include the spay or neuter surgery, first set of vaccinations and microchip.
If you are not able to adopt, the shelter is in urgent need of pet food donations for its pantry, which helps economically struggling residents.
The shelter is at 4775 W. Dorman St., 342-3508.

INL plans a move to new building
The Idaho National Laboratory will move powerful microscopes capable of illuminating the secrets of nuclear fuel to a new 8,000-square-foot building in the eastern Idaho desert.
The microscopes current home, in the so-called Hot Fuel Examination Facility, is too antiquated to accommodate cutting-edge microscopes that examine fuels and materials that go into nuclear reactors.
