Learn more about proposed Downtown Boise transit center Oct. 17

Published: October 10, 2012

Valley Regional Transit will hold an open house Wednesday, Oct. 17, on its proposed transit center in Downtown Boise on the southwest corner of 8th and Jefferson streets.

The open house takes place from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Garro Building, 816 W. Bannock St.

The transit center would serve as a central transportation hub downtown that could include buses, bicycle facilities, car sharing, vanpools, carpools, taxis and airport shuttles.

Kelli Fairless, VRT executive director, said the proposed location at 8th and Jefferson would provide a central location with quick access to downtown Boise for transit customers. It is immediately adjacent to a pedestrian-friendly area and would provide easy access to downtown for workers, visitors and shoppers. The state employs about 2,300 workers in the nearby Capitol Mall complex.
