Firebird hosts NAPA Halloween Classic XIX

Bud Preuss of Grand Junction, Colo., will race his 180 mph 1935 Ford Roadster in the Top Gun Shootout beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Firebird Raceway, part of the NAPA Halloween Classic XIX.

Nearly 600 racers from 12 western states and two Canadian provinces will compete for a purse topping $45,000.

Racing begins Wednesday and runs through Sunday.

Tickets are $15 for adults (Wednesday through Sunday), $5 for children 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger.

Gates open each day at 9 a.m. and racing start times are 4 p.m. (Wednesday), 1:30 p.m. (Thursday), 11:30 a.m. (Friday), 12:30 p.m. (Saturday) and 9 a.m. (Sunday).
