Ross White is being held in the Canyon County Jail on a felony charge of lewd conduct after Nampa police say he had illegal sexual contact with a young child various times between 2007 to 2009 while that child attended unlicensed day care at White’s home.

Police arrested the 72-year-old White early Tuesday morning without incident.

Nampa police began their investigation about two weeks ago after the child told their parents about what happened, Nampa Police Sgt. Don Peck said.

Police say White and his wife ran an unlicensed day care business at different homes in the 50 block of Benewah Street and the 700 block of E. Florida Street in Nampa over the years, watching mostly preschool kids.

White’s wife is not charged in connection with the case and investigators suspect she did not know about any illegal activity, Peck said. The couple is not currently watching any kids, according to reports.

Police are currently trying to contact other parents whose kids attended the day care.

Because the business was unlicensed (they watched less than six kids at a time) there is no roster of customers for police to contact.
