Boise Fire: Grass fire along I-84 Sunday appears to have spread from burning pile in yard

Published: October 7, 2012

Boise firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a grass fire Sunday near Interstate 84. The fire appears to have originated in a resident's back yard, a fire official said.

A grass fire that burned near Interstate 84 west of Cloverdale Road Sunday afternoon damaged a residential fence, but firefighters were able to extinguish it quick. The fire was reported just after 3 p.m.

Boise Fire Battalion Chief JD Ellis said the fire is under investigation, but the grass fire appears to have spread from a pile burning behind a house on West Dickens Drive.

The fire put up a black plume of smoke, and several motorists reported the fire. Firefighters were able to keep the fire to about one-tenth of an acre, and kept it from burning down to the road.
