1. Boise State: The Broncos’ sluggish start must give the rest of the league hope.

2. Nevada: Wolf Pack lead the Mountain West with 42 points per game and rank fourth nationally in rushing.

3. Fresno State: Bulldogs score 41.8 points per game and are 11th in the nation in passing.

4. San Diego State: Coach Rocky Long ripped his pass defense this week. The Aztecs are last in the league.

5. Wyoming: Quarterback Brett Smith ranks sixth in the nation in pass efficiency. Can’t blame him for the ugly start.

6. UNLV: Rebels are terrible on the road. Coach Bobby Hauck’s explanation: “We’re not good enough.”

7. Air Force: Falcons face rival Navy at 9:30 a.m. in Colorado Springs.

8. New Mexico: Lobos could reach 4-3 with games at home against Texas State and at Hawaii.

9. Hawaii: Let the debate begin about which MW team to ship to the Hawaii Bowl.

10. Colorado State: The Rams have lost four straight by double digits. That trend likely will continue for at least two more weeks.
