Published: October 5, 2012

A Portland man was injured early Friday morning, after his scooter collided with Boise fire truck at 14th and Main streets downtown. The crash occurred at about 2:45 a.m.

James Lucero, 26, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center after the crash, according to Idaho State Police. He is in critical condition.

The fire truck was responding to a call at 6th and Main streets. It entered the intersection at 14th and Main streets with lights and sirens on, ISP said in a release Friday.

Investigators say Lucero was traveling south on 14th street and failed to yield for a red light at Main Street. He crashed into the driver's side front of the fire engine.

No one in the fire truck was injured.
