Get creative at the interactive, improvisational art TASK Party. Its a community art party put on through a collaboration between Creative Access Art Center, Wingtip Press, Boise State University art class 351, University Public Television and Idaho Art Education Association. And its geared to get you out into the community to create something. The idea was inspired by the work of artist Oliver Herring, who orchestrated the first one in London more than 10 years ago. Since then, it has evolved into a worldwide movement with TASK events happening around the globe. This is the first anyone can remember in Boise. To get involved, drop by the Creative Access Arts Center, 500 S. 8th St., draw a creative assignment from the box and then get going. It can be anything from writing and performing a poem to decorating a public space. There will be supplies on hand for you to play with. Before you set off, write another task and place it in the box for someone else. Learn more and pre-register at TaskBoise.IPULIdaho.org, or just show up.
INSIDE OUT AT JUMP
A group of art activists are bringing the global movement called Inside Out to Boise. You can see the results starting tonight on display at the Jacks Urban Meeting Place project site at 9th and Front streets. The idea came from French artist JR, who started the project after winning the 2011 TED Prize from the folks that produce the TED Talks lecture series. The global project landed in Boise in February, taken up by photographer Allan Ansell and the civic activists of Art Project Boise who wanted to put a face on the unsung heroes who help the community flourish. Youll find Ansells large-scale images of teachers, nurses, mechanics, garbage collectors, construction workers, writers and farmers.
