An Idaho State Police officer stopped a red passenger car for speeding on Interstate 84 near the Linden Road underpass in Canyon County about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
During the traffic stop, ISP Corporal Jens Pattis asked the driver, identified as Roberto Solario, 32 of Nampa, to step out of his vehicle.
Pattis spoke with Solario briefly. Solario then fled from the scene on foot and ran into the westbound lanes of I-84, where he was struck by a 2000 Ford F250 pickup driven by Nicky Adams, 64, of New Plymouth.
Solario was transported to the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise for treatment of injuries he sustained in the collision. His condition is not known at this time.
Idaho State Police is investigating.
