Former Boise State football star Korey Hall made the announcement Friday — three days after signing with the Arizona Cardinals.

Hall, the 2006 WAC Defensive Player of the Year and a four-year starter at linebacker for Boise State, played fullback with the Green Bay Packers (2007-10) and New Orleans Saints (2011). The Saints released him Sept. 8.

Hall, 29, is from Glenns Ferry. He won a Super Bowl ring with the Packers during the 2010 season.

“I reached a point in my career where my body wasn’t holding up and I couldn’t play the game the way I wanted to,” Hall said via text message. “It was a good run full of great experiences and I have no regrets.”

Hall joined the Boise State team in 2002. He started from 2003 to 2006, finishing fourth in school history with 394 career tackles. He was a three-time All-WAC first-teamer (2004-06) and a sixth-round draft pick of the Packers in 2007.

Hall made 21 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown in his career. He also played special teams, making 53 tackles.
