Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State women’s tennis dominates in home tourney

The Broncos went a combined 18-2 in singles and 7-3 in doubles matches during the first day of the Jack Taylor Classic. Nine different Broncos remain undefeated in singles action heading into Saturday’s action. The tournament continues Saturday and Sunday with matches at the Appleton Tennis Center, Julia Davis Park and Timberline High.

BOISE STATE VOLLEYBALL: Boise State earned a straight set 25-14, 25-22, 25-21 win over Air Force in a Mountain West showdown at Bronco Gym. Alyssa Gammel and Liz Harden led the Broncos (8-9, 1-2 MW) with 11 kills each.

BOISE STATE SOCCER: The Broncos lost 1-0 in their Mountain West debut at New Mexico. Lauren Hickok led Boise State (5-7-1, 0-1-0 MW) with five of the team’s 17 shots.

IDAHO SOCCER: Texas State rallied for two goals in the final 10 minutes to beat the Vandals 2-1 in San Marcos, Texas. Chelsea Small gave Idaho (3-10-0, 0-1-0 WAC) a 1-0 lead in the first half.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO WOMEN’S SOCCER: Northwest Christian scored with less than 8 minutes remaining in Springfield, Ore., to earn its first-ever women’s soccer victory over the Coyotes. Katy Radko scored the lone goal for the C of I (1-4-1, 0-1 Cascade Conference).

C OF I MEN’S SOCCER: The Coyotes (1-5-2, 1-3-0 CCC) earned their first win of the season by defeating Northwest Christian 4-1 in Springfield, Ore.

C OF I VOLLEYBALL: The No. 15 Coyotes (12-4, 9-0 CCC) won their 36th straight match over Eastern Oregon in Caldwell. Jessica Peacock had 15 kills as the C of I won 21-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20.

IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Vandals (5-10, 3-2 WAC) defeated Texas State 25-14, 25-13, 23-25, 21-25, 15-8 late Thursday night in Moscow. Allison Baker led the Vandals with 19 kills.
