15th/Jefferson intersection in Downtown Boise reopened

Published: September 28, 2012

The intersection at 15th and Jefferson streets has been reopened after being closed for several hours while work crews fixed a power pole.

A pickup truck vs. SUV crash at the intersection around noon Friday badly damaged the pole and work crews need traffic to stay away to complete repairs. That section of both roads is expected to be closed until late Friday afternoon at the earliest, according to Boise police.

Witnesses tell police the driver of the pickup ran through a red light and collided with the SUV before spinning off and crashing into the power pole, according to reports. The force of the impact caused power lines to fall down.

Police say it appears no one was badly hurt in the crash. The driver of the pickup will be cited for running a red light, officials say.
