Power restored to 6,000 customers in Boise’s North End, Garden City

Published: September 28, 2012

Idaho Power crews say a squirrel caused about 6,300 customers in Boise’s North End and portions of Garden City to lose electrical service Friday morning.

Those customers lost power around 11:30 a.m. Friday but crews were able to restore it by noon, officials said.

The outage extended from State Street to Hill Road, and from the Collister neighborhood in Northwest Boise all the way to Camel’s Back Park in the North End. The outage area also included neighborhoods along Curtis Road/Veterans Memorial Parkway.

The squirrel got into some electrical equipment at the Idaho Power substation at 34th and State Streets, officials said Friday.
