RECREATION

Applications being taken for grant funding

The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is taking applications for grant funds for the following programs through Jan. 25:

Recreational Vehicle Program, Waterways Improvement Fund, Off-Road Motor Vehicle Fund, Motorbike Fund, Recreation Trails Program, Recreational Road and Bridge Fund, Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Cutthroat License Plate Fund, which is for the construction and maintenance of non-motorized boating access facilities for anglers.

Anyone considering a project that may qualify for grant funding in Southwest Idaho should call Jill Murphey at 514-2432.

FISHING

Comment deadline set Sept. 30 on fishing rules

Idaho Fish and Game is taking comments on proposed fishing regulations and also the draft of its six-year fish plan. A list of the proposed changes and the draft are available at any F&G office. You can also review changes and proposals or submit your comments through the agency’s website at fishandgame.idaho.gov. Search for proposed fishing rules.

One statewide proposal calls for approving the publication of the fish rules booklet for a three-year period rather than the customary two-year cycle. Circumstances forced the department to do this in 2010, when the current rules were extended through 2012. The move was well received by the public, F&G said.
