Free health screening for children Oct. 6 in Meridian

Published: September 24, 2012

Idaho State University-Meridian and the El Korah Shriners will host a free health screening clinic for children under age 18 to evaluate orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate.

The free screening clinic will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the ISU-Meridian Health Science Center, 1311 E. Central Drive in Meridian.

Volunteer doctors will screen children and teens under age 18 to determine if they are a potential candidate for treatment at a Shriners Hospital, regardless of their ability to pay. ISU faculty and students in accelerated nursing, physician assistant, physical therapy and audiology/communication sciences and disorders programs will assist the doctors.

Candidates for Shriners Hospital treatment may be reimbursed for patient and guardian travel depending on the family's needs, according to the El Korah Shriners.
