The Broncos rallied from two sets down to force a fifth set but couldnt pull off the comeback in a 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, 19-25, 16-14 loss Saturday at Bronco Gym. Liz Harden finished the match with the fourth-best Bronco performance for kills all-time, recording 32 to go along with five blocks, two service aces, one assist and 11 digs. Casey Rose added a career-high 45 assists for BSU (7-9, 0-2 MW).
C OF I VOLLEYBALL: Jessica Peacock had five of her season-high 22 kills in the fifth set as the Coyotes outlasted Concordia 25-21, 22-25, 25-15, 20-25, 15-10 in Caldwell. It was the eighth straight win for the C of I (11-4, 8-0 CCC) and extended the teams conference home win streak to 66.
IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Vandals swept Utah State 25-14, 25-15, 25-22 in Logan, Utah. Junior Ashley Christman matched her career high with 13 kills for Idaho (4-10, 2-2 WAC).
COLLEGE OF IDAHO RUNNERS SWEEP INVITATIONAL TITLES
Greg Montgomery won the mens title and Hillary Holt won the womens crown Saturday at the Runners Soul/Erik Anderson Invitational at Plantes Ferry Park in Spokane. The Coyote women also claimed the team title, placing five runners in the top 15. Holt crossed the finish line in 17:23.37 16 seconds ahead of Karlee Coffey of Eastern Oregon, last seasons Cascade Conference champion and NAIA national runner-up. Montgomery ran the 5k course in 24:17, equaling his time from last seasons NAIA Championship. It was his second win of the season and his sixth title overall.
