With almost 350 firefighters working to contain the blaze now, crews continue making progress.
They will remain on the line Thursday night to patrol and continue to work toward full containment, according to a statement by the Idaho Department of Lands. Residents of the Robie Creek and Wilderness Ranch subdivisions remain under a voluntary evacuation. Access to the fire area is restricted to local property owners only. Fire managers and the Boise County sheriff will evaluate the situation daily to determine when access restrictions can be lifted.
The Red Cross has closed a temporary shelter at Idaho City High School. The fire, burning about 10 air miles northeast of Boise, began Monday in scattered timber and brush and grew rapidly in the hot, dry conditions. Firefighters have worked tirelessly to contain the fire. Motorists should expect fire-related traffic on Highway 21 between Robie Creek Road and Idaho City. The public is urged to use caution when traveling in the area. More information is available at www.inciweb.org.
