Michael Thomas Freeman is being held in the Canyon County Jail on a felony aggravated battery charge after Caldwell Police say he stabbed another man in the back three times during a bar fight Tuesday night.
The other man, 35-year-old Brian Baker, is charged with misdemeanor battery for his role in the fight. Baker was treated for the stab wounds at a local hospital and released, according to Caldwell police reports.
Police were sent to investigate a report of a fight at a tavern near the 7th Avenue/Arthur Street intersection around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
When police arrived, they found both men were still at the bar and Baker had some wounds to the back.
Police officials say they dont know exactly what the fight was about but it does appear to be part of a long running dispute between Baker and Freeman.
Officers were called to the same bar several days earlier to investigate a report of a disturbance and issued a warning to both men, Lt. Devin Riley said Wednesday.
Freeman, 33, will make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
The crime of aggravated battery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The crime of misdemeanor battery is punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.
