Exergy Development Group, an alternative energy company based in Boise, will continue its sponsorship of men’s and women’s professional cycling teams in 2013.

“In an era when cycling seems content in continuing to canabalize itself, we know the young men and women at the heart of this sport deserve our admiration and respect,” CEO James Carkulius said.

Team Exergy (men) is back for a third season in the UCI Continental circuit. ExergyTWENTY16 (women) will continue with a focus on the 2016 Olympics.

Exergy made headlines recently for unpaid bills related to May’s Exergy Tour, a women’s pro stage race in Idaho, but the sponsor fulfilled its obligations to both teams, representatives said.

Exergy is expected to be the title sponsor for the women’s stage race in 2013.
