Bucs running back Doug Martin (Boise State) rushed for 66 yards on 20 carries and had an 8-yard touchdown run in Tampa Bay's 41-34 loss to the New York Giants. Martin's touchdown in the second quarter gave the Buccaneers a 17-6 lead over New York. On a second-and-5 at the Giants 8, Martin took a handoff up the middle, then spun left and outraced several New York defenders, including Osi Umenyiora and Mathias Kiwanuka, to the end zone. "I thought Doug ran the ball hard," Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman told reporters in the postgame press conference. Martin had a long run of 12 yards and averaged 3.3 yards per carry.
Seahawks safety Jeron Johnson (Boise State) returned a blocked punt for a touchdown. The score came in the first quarter of Seattle's 27-7 victory over Dallas. "My first touchdown since high school, the 2005 season," Johnson told The Seattle Times. "My last touchdown was a shanked punt return. I was the short man. I took it 50 yards to the house. I thought thered be a lot more where that came from. But not until today and this one was better. This was a great moment."
Jets cornerback Kyle Wilson (Boise State) had six tackles and an assist. Wilson was starting in place of All-Pro Darrelle Revis, who suffered a concussion the New York's Week 1 win over Buffalo.
Vikings defensive end Jared Allen (Idaho State) had three tackles.
Rams safety Quintin Mikell (Boise State) had two tackles.
Lions wide receiver Titus Young (Boise State) caught one pass for 11 yards.
Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford (Boise State) had one assist.
