Published: September 16, 2012

Idaho 16 was closed north of Chapparal Road to allow access for fire crews working a wildfire in Gem County, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office. The highway was closed for over an hour, but was re-opened by 6:30 p.m.

Motorists were rerouted in both directions.

The 30-acre fire is at mile maker 9 on Idaho 16, just north of Firebird Raceway, according to Mallory Eils, a fire information officer with BLM. She said BLM was called at 3:50 p.m. to assist with the fire.
