The Treasure Valleys largest irrigation district will hold an election November 6 to pick a new member of its Board of Directors, officials with the Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District announced today.
NMID is currently taking nominations through September 27 for the position of Director for Precinct No. 2 of the District, replacing current director Monte Janicek who is stepping down. The Director position carries a three year term.
Individuals who want to stand for election as a Director must live in the Precinct plus meet other qualifications set down by law. Individuals interested in the position should contact the District for more information.
Precinct 2 is roughly bordered by McMillan Road to the North, McDermott Road to the West, Eagle Road to the East and Hubbard Road to the south. A map of the three NMID precincts, along with other information about the election, is available at the NMID website: www.nmid.org.
Under Idaho law, if the deadline for nominations has passed and only one qualified candidate has been nominated, an election will not be held. Instead, the Board of Directors will declare the candidate as elected.
People who want to vote in the NMID election will be required to sign an electors oath stating they are a resident of Ada, Boise or Canyon Counties and they own land within the boundaries of the Nampa & Meridian Irrigation District.
The polls will be open on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 8 a.m. and will close at 8 p.m. Eligible voters can cast ballots at any of the three NMID voting locations. They are:
Horizon Elementary School, 730 N. Mitchel, Boise
Meridian Middle School, 1507 W. 8th Street, Meridian
Nampa Civic Center, 311 Third Street South, Nampa
