Boise State game day weather will feel more like hot, sunny summer than crisp fall

Published: September 14, 2012

For those who plan to go to the Boise State Football home opener Saturday afternoon, expect a warm, sunny day that feels a little more like June than September.

The estimated high temperature for the Boise area Saturday is 88 degrees, with lots of sunshine. That means football fans should expect temperatures in the low 80s around the time of the 2 p.m. kickoff at Bronco Stadium.

(For reference, the average high temperature for Sept. 15 in the Boise area is 79 degrees, according to National Weather Service reports.)

Unlike earlier this week, it likely won’t get very cold overnight, with an estimated low in the mid 50s. This is good news for blue- and orange-clad early-morning tailgaters, who have been known to fire up the grills and bust out the lawn chairs shortly after first light. While the close proximity of the Boise River might knock it down a degree or two, it shouldn’t dip below 50.

Any smoke that leaks into the Treasure Valley overnight should be vented out by game time as temperatures heat up, according to National Weather Service reports.

As for the next week, expect sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid 80s.
