Two injured in car accident that damages church

Two people were injured in an automobile accident Thursday afternoon at 27th and Jefferson streets that damaged the Greek Orthodox Church.

A black Mercury driving east on Jefferson apparently ran a stop sign and struck a white Toyota going south on 27th. The black sedan was forced into the corner of the Greek Orthodox Church.

The male driver of the Mercury was extricated and transported. The female driver of the Toyota also was transported after receiving medical attention at the scene.

There were no life-threatening injuries police said. The accident was reported at 3:13 p.m. and remains under investigation.
