State revenues fall short in August

Idaho state revenue collections slipped below projected levels for the second month in a row, according to the Idaho Division of Financial Management.

Total revenues were $197.6 million in August, up 3.7 percent from August 2011 but down 1.1 percent from projected income.

Since the start of the fiscal year in July the state has taken in $420.4 million, up 4.2 percent from the last year but 1.3 percent behind what the state had hoped to take in.

Idaho individual income taxes collections were $88.8 million in August, down 2.8 percent from last year and more than 7 percent off projections. State officials say a shortfall in withholding collections over the past two months bears watching but doesn't indicate a trend.
