Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State soccer falls to Portland State in double OT

BSU wins two The Broncos opened the Boise State Invitational on Friday with a sweep of Southern Utah, 26-24, 25-11, 25-14. Alyssa Gammel led the Broncos with a team-high 13 kills. In the evening, BSU survived a five-set win over San Jose State, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19, 24-26, 16-14. Outside hitter Liz Harden, shown above finding a gap in the Southern Utah block, recorded a season-high 26 kills in the win over SJSU. The tournament continues Saturday. The Broncos take on UC Irvine at 1 p.m. at Bronco Gym.

The Broncos lost their first game of the Viking Classic 2-1 on Friday in Hillsboro, Ore. Brianne Favatella scored the lone goal for the Broncos (3-4-0) on a header late in regulation. It was the first collegiate goal for the senior midfielder. BSU goalkeeper Maddy McDevitt had four saves.

IDAHO SOCCER: The Vandals were shut out by Miami 3-0 in Coral Gables, Fla., giving up all three goals in the second half. Idaho drops to 2-5-0.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Coyotes extended their home court Cascade Conference winning streak to 63 matches with a victory over Northwest Christian, 25-16, 25-23, 25-16. The squad tallied 43 kills, led by Kylee Nawahine and Sofia Anxo with nine apiece. Jessica Peacock added eight kills and 11 digs for the C of I (6-4, 3-0 CCC).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE VOLLEYBALL: The Crusaders split matches at the Route 92 Showdown in Belmont, Calif., defeating Humboldt State (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) before falling to Cal Baptist (23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 12-15). Setter Michelle Terpstra had a double-double against HSU with 29 assists and 12 digs.
