Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State soccer to host invitational this weekend

Published: August 31, 2012

The three Division I soccer teams from the Gem State, along with Montana, make up the field of the Boise State Invitational. Each school will play two games — one Friday and another Sunday — at the Boas Soccer Complex. The Broncos (2-2) will play Montana (1-3) and ISU (3-0), as will the Vandals (2-2). BSU and Idaho aren’t competing against each other this season, meaning the annual Governor’s Cup won’t be awarded. Game times are 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Friday, and 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday. Boise State plays in the late game of each session.

IDAHO VOLLEYBALL: The Vandals lost to Cal Poly 25-27, 25-23, 25-18, 16-25, 15-9. Allison Walker led Idaho (2-2) with 18 kills, 12 digs and six blocks.

NORTHWEST NAZARENE WOMEN’S SOCCER: The Crusaders opened their season with a 2-0 win over Eastern Oregon. Sarah Starapoli and Jenny Field scored goals.
