Residents in the Featherville and Pine areas who want to check their property or get personal items will be permitted to check their residences Tuesday, the Elmore County Sheriff's Office said in a release late Monday. All who enter must show ID and proof of residence.
Two specific time frames for Featherville residents have been scheduled: 10 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. and noon to 1:30 p.m. Residents are asked to meet at Elks Flats Campground on Pine-Featherville Road at 10 a.m. or noon, and they will be permitted in for 90 minutes.
Pine residents will be allowed into their homes between 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
Sheriff's officials say that firefighters have saved all the homes in Featherville, but dense smoke and other fire-related hazards continue to make the area unsafe. Conditions are being monitored, and residents will be allowed to return as soon as it is safe.
Residents are reminded drive with headlights on, be aware that emergency vehicles are traveling in both directions and to follow sheriff's deputies' instructions. All recreation areas are still closed, so no one towing RVs or ATVs will be permitted in.
A community meeting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Pine Senior Center. Information may also be obtained by calling: fire information line, 208-653-2164, or sheriff's incident command, 208-590-3845.
