Marvin McCarthy comes in to Jim's Coffee Shop about once a week. "The place is lively," he says. "With her, it's a treat coming here." That would be Joni Chaffin, who is equal parts waitress, grandmother, mom, overseer of generosity and a glue that makes the restaurant a family of sorts.
