Published: August 25, 2012

Caldwell-based Third District Judge Renae Hoff was arrested by Meridian police early Saturday morning on a misdemeanor DUI charge, according to Ada County arrest records.

The 61-year-old Nampa resident was booked into the Ada County Jail for the DUI shortly after 3 a.m. and released after she posted bond. According to statewide court records, Hoff has no previous record beyond minor traffic violations.

A patrol officer pulled over Hoff on 10 Mile Road around 1:20 a.m. Saturday because she did not stay her lane of travel, according to reports. It was during that traffic stop that the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Hoff.

Police arrested Hoff after she failed field sobriety tests and took a breath test, where she registered a blood alcohol content percentage above the Idaho legal limit of .08, according to reports. Police did not release the exact bac level.

Hoff could not be reached for comment.
