Garden City police find five ounces of meth during traffic stop Thursday

Published: August 24, 2012

Darrell Ray Lund is being held in the Ada County Jail on felony counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of stolen property after Garden City Police say they found over five ounces of meth in his car during a traffic stop Thursday.

The 41-year-old Lund is charged with trafficking instead of possession because officers found more than one ounce of meth in the car, Garden City Police officials said.

Police pulled over Lund for speeding at 8:45 a.m. and then arrested him after finding out he was driving with a suspended license. That’s when police searched Lund’s car and found the drugs and several electronic items that police later figured out were taken during other burglaries in the area, according to reports.

Garden City Police did not identify if those burglaries occurred at homes or stores or say where they pulled Lund over.

Lund will make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon.

The crime of trafficking in methamphetamine is punishable by up to life in prison.
