The city of Meridian is seeking youth who are interested in serving on the following city commissions: Meridian Arts, Parks and Recreation, Historical Preservation and Solid Waste Advisory. In addition, the city is also seeking youth for appointment to the Transportation Task Force and the Mayor's Anti-Drug Coalition.
To be considered for appointment applicants must reside in Meridian or its area of impact and be in 9th through 12th grade throughout their appointment.
Interested applicants should send a letter of interest and a completed application to Mayor Tammy de Weerd by Sept. 14. Applications can be found online or in the Mayor's Office at Meridian City Hall. All letters and applications should be mailed or hand-delivered to Meridian City Hall, 33 East Broadway Ave., Meridian, ID 83642.
Selected applicants will be appointed to one-year terms and will attend the regularly scheduled meetings of their assigned commission and other meetings or activities as appropriate.
"We have had great success in involving local teens with our City boards and commissions," said de Weerd. "By having youth that are willing to express their ideas and committed to working alongside adults and with others, we can bring the unique youth perspective that helps us innovative and solution oriented to issues important to our community."
