2011 District Three champion: Skyview

Teams to watch:

• Skyview, the defending District Three champion and third-place finisher at state, returns nine starters under second-year coach Shawn Pelton.

• Bishop Kelly returns the majority of its young team, losing only two players.

• Caldwell, the state runner-up in 2011, graduated many players and it will be a challenge to repeat the same success (lost 4-0 to Skyview on Aug. 18).

• Middleton could be a surprise contender, as it returns eight starters.

• Mountain Home returns nine starters.

• Columbia will be young with three sophomores and three freshmen, but could become a contender come playoff time.

Players to watch: Skyview senior forward Kevin Field (22 goals) and senior goalie Jacob Nitu (112 saves); Bishop Kelly senior midfielder Austin Curnow (six goals, three assists) and senior defender Peter Reimer (six goals, one assist); Middleton forward Christian Anaya (three goals, seven assists); Mountain Home’s Jack RichElieu and Juan Sanchez; Kuna senior centermid Brenton Van Tassell (four goals) and sophomore forward Lane Thorne; Columbia senior forward Jose Corvera and senior defender Danny Sandoval.

Games to watch: Middleton at Bishop Kelly, 6:30, Aug. 28; Middleton at Emmett, 5 p.m., Sept. 10; Bishop Kelly at Skyview, 6:30, Oct 1.
