Boise puts off decision on fees for programs, use of facilities

Published: August 21, 2012

City Council members raised questions Tuesday night over a new fee structure proposed for use of Boise's Parks and Recreation facilities, and ultimately chose to wait until at least next week to add the proposal to next fiscal year's budget. Also next week, the city will conduct a final reading of the ordinance that would make the budget law, setting the stage for approval of both next year's spending and the fees proposal.

In addition to dozens of fee increases for popular programs, the Parks and Recreation Department has suggested a new fee structure for use of facilities such as Idaho Ice World and Boise Depot. The fee structure change is designed to make terms for renting city facilities more flexible, city officials said.
