Former Boise State golfers Troy Merritt and Graham DeLaet will take on University of Oregon golf coach Casey Martin and a “Duck for the Day” in the $50,000 Michelob Ultra Shootout: Broncos vs. Ducks, an event that will kick off Albertsons Boise Open week at Hillcrest Country Club. The Shootout is Monday, Sept. 10 — and the Boise Open, a Web.com tour stop (formerly Nationwide), is Sept. 13-16.

The nine-hole Shootout tees off at 2:30 p.m. on the No. 10 tee at Hillcrest, preceded by a warm-up clinic open to the public on the driving range. Admission to the Shootout and the clinic is free to the public.

World long drive champion Jamie Sadlowski will return to the Shootout and serve as the “Designated Driver,” hitting one drive for each team on every hole. One player from each team may choose to play Sadlowski's drive. The prize money will be awarded to the Boise State and Oregon golf programs. The Albertsons Boise Open Shootouts have provided $136,500 to the Boise State golf programs over the years.

The format of the Shootout will be a best-ball skins contest with each team competing for their piece of $50,000. Each “skin” – or hole – will be assigned a dollar value. The team with the lowest individual score on each hole is determined the winner of the “skin.” In the event of a tie on a hole, the dollar value of the previous hole is carried over and added to the next hole. At the end of the nine holes, the dollar amount accumulated by each team will go to their respective golf program. The skins on holes 10 through 17 will be worth $5,000, and the 18th and final skin will be worth $10,000.

DeLaet, a current PGA Tour player, and Merritt, a current Web.com Tour player, will represent the Boise State golf programs. DeLaet tied for fourth earlier this year at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, while Merritt’s best finish on the Web.com Tour was a tie for 13th at the Mexico Open.

Martin, a former PGA Tour player, competed in the U.S. Open at the Olympic Club in California earlier this year.

Tickets for the 23rd annual Boise Open are on sale at www.albertsonsboiseopen.com and through the Hillshire Brands TICKETS Fore CHARITY program, where 100 percent of all ticket sales will go directly to local charities.
