COLLEGE FOOTBALL
A shout out for the BSU-Idaho rivalry
Regarding BrianMurphys column Aug. 12:
I bleed Blue & Orange, but what is the matter with college football today?
The Vandals have been playing NCAA football for more than 100 years, once played in the Pacific Coast Conference with USC and UCLA, was the first college to have a dome stadium and now cannot find anyone to play in 2013.
If I remember correctly, back when Boise State became a four-year school, it took state legislators and the State Board to make sure Idaho played Boise State.
Now wouldnt it be ironic if the same thing happened only in reverse? Maybe it should and we would get the states rivalry back.
Go Broncos! Go Vandals!

Good questions about badminton
An article in the Scene & Heard column of the Statesman sports section dated Aug. 10 under They Said It brings up someintriguing questions:
1. Will a shuttlecock made from right wing feathers only fly correctly in the southern hemisphere?
2. If you attempt to flush a left wing shuttlecock down the toilet in the southern hemisphere, is it apt to go straight down or shoot up and nail you in the eye?
3. Can you use both left wing and right wing shuttlecocks in the same contest if you promise to play moderately?
4. Finally, was the controversial situation in the Olympics the reason this game is not calledGOODMINTON?
