If you've yearned for a place where you can play Donkey Kong, Mortal Kombat and pinball games with beer and wine at the ready, you're in luck. The Spacebar Arcade is coming to Boise, and it's bringing about 30 pre-1990s arcade games and pinball machines to the 21-and-over crowd.
Five friends who live in Boise and grew up here plan to open the bar Aug. 31 in the Adelmann Building at 200 N. Capitol Blvd. The building also is home to Le Cafe de Paris.
"We had visited similar places in Portland," said co-owner Trent McNair. "Ground Kontrol was an inspiration to us. ... We were surprised nobody had done [an arcade bar] in Boise."
McNair said all the partners are nearing or just past 40 years old and have day jobs in industries like software development, law and restaurants. They hired a manager to run the bar-arcade.
Spacebar Arcade will feature games and pinball machines that the owners bought from collectors in Idaho and as far away as Pennsylvania.
