A 33-year-old woman from Spokane Valley, Wash., was cited by Idaho State Police Monday night, after her vehicle drifted in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84, causing an 8-vehicle crash, according to Idaho State Police. The crash happened at milepost 48.5, between Maple Grove and Five Mile.

No one involved in the crash was taken by ambulance to the hospital, ISP said. The crash, which occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m., closed three lanes of the interstate for two hours.

Police described what happened:

Maria Arredondo-Medina, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry, was headed westbound on Interstate 84. Her vehicle drifted into the lane of a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by Daniella Emerson, a 38-year-old Eagle woman.

Emerson slowed to avoid a collision. That led to a chain of crashes:

— A 2005 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Robert Hale of Meridian, was struck by a Kenworth Semi. Boisean Steven Bahmer was behind the wheel of the semi.

— Hale's Silverado then struck a 2003 Ford Ranger driven by Bradley Glover of Nampa.

— Glover's vehicle then struck a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass driven by Michael Farrell of Boise.

— Bahmer's semi then swerved to the right, striking a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country minivan driven by Katie Moen of Caldwell.

— Glover's Ranger was subsequently struck by a 1995 Peterbilt driven by Jerry Farr of Meridian.
