Californian wins third title at Firebird’s Nightfire event

Kris Krabill outdrove defending world champion Jason Rupert in AA/Funny Car in the featured event at Nightfire Nationals at Firebird Raceway. Krabill won with a 5.94-second run at faster than 239 mph, to outpace Rupert’s 6.00, 235.

• In AA/Fuel Dragster, Adam Sorokin made the quickest run of the weekend in the final, running 5.83 to down Rick Williamson.

• Idaho racers Houston Head and Richie Pedraza scored in Heavy and Sled/Bike, respectively, while Canadian driver Darryn O’Connor picked up two titles in one day, winning a combined $6,000 in Bracketeer and Top Fire.
