Ada County Highway District crews will work Sunday to apply a chipseal on sections of Fairview Avenue, Glenwood Street, Orchard Street and Curtis Road to reduce impacts to busy, weekday traffic.
According to a press release, ACHD crews will begin work at 6 a.m. on the following road sections: · Glenwood Street from Goddard Road to Chinden Boulevard
· Fairview Avenue from Cole Road to Liberty Street
· Fairview Avenue from Liberty Street to Curtis Road
· Fairview Avenue from Orchard Street to Bluff Street
· Orchard Street from Fairview Avenue to Chinden Boulevard
· Curtis Road from Fairview Avenue to Plymouth Street
· Curtis Road from Plymouth Street to Northview Street
· Curtis Road from Northview Street to Chinden Boulevard
Work on some roadway sections may carry over to next week (August 13) when crews will also chipseal Ustick Road from Curtis Road to Mountain View Drive.
Once a chipseal is applied to the road, vehicles are immediately allowed to drive slowly over the new surface. However, caution should be used. At signalized intersections, flaggers may be used to direct motorists.
Motorists should expect delays between five and 15 minutes long during certain steps in the chipseal process.
Additionally, a fogseal is planned for several roadways next week:
· Mitchell Street from Ustick Road to Fairview Avenue
· Ustick Road from Five Mile Road to Cole Road
· Glenwood Hill from Mountain View Drive to Chinden Boulevard
· Kent Street from Chinden Boulevard to Alworth Street
· Alworth/Adams streets from Kent Street to 37th Street
· 50th Street from Chinden Boulevard to Alworth Street
· 44th Street from Chinden Boulevard to Adams Street
· 37th Street from Chinden Boulevard to Adams Street The fogseal is the final step in the process that seals loose rocks in place. Once applied, vehicles can drive on it after approximately 30 minutes. Motorists should expect lane restrictions and possible delays during fogseal work.
