1st District Democratic candidate Jimmy Farris: Idaho’s $100 million man? Nope.

Published: August 10, 2012

Money matters 1st District Democratic candidate Farris is pressing GOP Rep. Raul Labrador to release tax returns, and knocked him Wednesday for saying he was among the “poorest” members of Congress.

Didn’t Farris get rich in the NFL? Sure looks like it from his financial disclosure form, where Farris reported his NFL annuity and NFL 401(k) are each worth more than $50 million.

Oops Farris said Thursday he had ticked the wrong box. His retirement funds are worth $52,000 and $92,000, he said, calling the error “just an innocent, honest oversight.” The retired football receiver vowed to amend the filing.

How ‘poor’ is Labrador? His report puts his assets in a range between $67,000 and minus $131,000, ranking him 617th of 641 members of Congress. His congressional salary is $174,000 a year.
