Boise's Maddie Sheils falls in round of 16 at U.S. Women's Amateur

Boise's Maddie Sheils won a match Thursday morning to advance to the round of 16 at the U.S. Women's Amateur in Cleveland, but she lost her afternoon match 3-and-1 to Marijosse Navarro of Mexico.

Sheils won two matches after surviving the 36 holes of stroke-play qualifying. Sheils beat Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgeville, Ga., 1-up in the morning.
