Madeleine Sheils, a Boisean who played college golf at Nebraska, defeated 14-year-old Sierra Brooks of Sorrento, Fla., 3 and 1 in the first round Wednesday at The Country Club in Cleveland. The win moves Sheils to the round of 32, where she will square off against 16-year-old Ashlan Ramsey of Milledgeville, Ga. Ramsey won her first match 6 and 5 over Harin Lee of Bayside, N.Y.
