Boise native and 2002 Bishop Kelly graduate Nick Symmonds qualified for the finals of the 800-meter run Tuesday at the London Games.
Barely.
The 28-year-old Symmonds finished third in his semifinal heat behind Kenyas David Rudisha and Great Britains Andrew Osagie only the top two automatically qualified and had to wait to see if he advanced on time. He did. His time of 1 minute, 44.87 seconds was just good enough. Symmonds was seventh among eight qualifiers.
Not exactly how I imagined making an Olympic Final but Ill take it! Symmonds tweeted from @NickSymmonds.
