The drowning death of 7-year-old Fred M. Hartpence at Arrowrock Reservoir Monday has been declared an accident, according to Boise County Coroner's reports.
Divers recovered the body of the boy from the water just after 7 p.m. Monday, according to Boise County Sheriff Chief Deputy Dale Rogers.
The boy went missing in the water while swimming with family members earlier that afternoon. They were swimming near Observation Point, near milepost 14, Rogers said.
Emergency personnel were called to a report of a missing person at 3:25 p.m. Monday. Rogers said a reserve marine deputy, another deputy and a Forest Service officer were at the scene within a few minutes, but couldn't find the missing child under the age of 10 in the water.
Rogers said the child had been swimming with his parents and two siblings not far from the shore.
The family is from the Nampa area, according to coroner's reports.
Divers from the Ada County Sheriff's Office eventually found Fred Hartpence in the water, according to reports.
