Kirk Earlywine, 48, has been hired as the Idaho’s director of player development. Earlywine previously was head coach at Eastern Washington, where he compiled a 42-78 record in four years from 2007 to 2011. He spent last season as a television broadcaster. Chris Helbling, the Vandals’ director of basketball operations from 2008 to 2012, has been promoted to assistant coach.
