Boise firefighter Vance Baldwin was killed Friday in an ATV accident in Elmore County.

A 19-year veteran of the Boise Fire Department, Baldwin, 52, also served as a volunteer for the Pine-Featherville Volunteer Ambulance District.

The accident occurred near Rocky Bar as Baldwin was on his way to the ambulance station in response to a medical call, according to information given to Boise fire commanders from Baldwin's family. His body was found later by family members searching for him after they received word he failed to arrive at the ambulance station.

Baldwin most recently was a driver for the engine company at Boise Fire Station 14 on S. Five Mile Road. During his career he served on the dive rescue team, the airport rescue team and the hazmat team.

Baldwin lived in both Boise and Pine.

He leaves behind a wife and daughter.

The family will hold a private memorial service for Baldwin on Friday.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Pine-Featherville Volunteer Ambulance District in Pine.
